Tip Line

How Does Tip Line Work?

If you have information concerning a crime that occurred in the City or Town of Burlington, or information concerning the whereabouts of a wanted fugitive, call the tip line at 262-342-1125. After you have submitted a tip you will be given a code number. Please record this number and call the tip line during regular business hours to follow up on your information. Callers may remain anonymous, with no pressure to reveal their identity and still collect their rewards.

If a caller's information results in the arrest and the filing of a criminal charge against a suspected crime offender or the apprehension of a fugitive, arrangements may then be made so that the person can receive his/her reward in CASH and preserve his/her anonymity.

The Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce administers the program and rewards are based on information and recommendations of the program's coordinator at the Town and City of Burlington Police Departments.

Who Administers the Program?

The Tip Line program is administered through the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce and is funded entirely through donations from concerned citizens and business owners. The responsibility for establishing policy, raising funds and for controlling the amount of reward payments rests with the Police Departments and the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce.

Media Support & Involvement

In order to publicize the Tip Line Program and maintain high profile in the community, a specific unsolved crime is featured and publicized locally.

The publicity keeps the public interest in Tip Line at a high level and helps locate an occasional "casual" witness to the crime who may not have realized that he or she was actually witnessing a crime.

Tip Line does not pay for television or radio time or for newspaper coverage. All media coverage is provided free of charge as a public service.

Join us in thanking our media sponsors for their support:

  • Burlington Standard Press
  • The Journal Times

Thank you also to all our community members, businesses and private citizens, who have contributed to the Tip Line Program and to the safety of our community.
