School Liaison Officer
This program provides assistance to area school administrators and students with disruptive behavior and other problems. The liaison officer also provides security at sporting events, dances and other activities.
Safety Town
This is an annual program in June designed for children entering kindergarten each fall. Children learn about topics such as Stranger Danger, how to use 9-1-1, handgun safety, poisons and Mr. Yuk, bicycle skills and how to safely cross streets. Call the Burlington Jaycees for information, 262-763-8713.
Bike Rodeo
The first Saturday in June brings the annual Bike Rodeo, which is most popular with children under 12 years of age. Activities include bicycle registration, distribution of free bike helmets, safety inspections and supervised practice for safe operation using obstacle courses and other common "hazards."
Career Days
Officers regularly attend high school, technical college and university career days or fairs to promote law enforcement careers for men and women.
Crime Prevention
Officers can provide information to merchants, banks, residents, seniors and other groups on a wide range of crime prevention, security and personal safety topics. Call 262-342-1100 for more information or to schedule a presentation.
Tip Line
This program encourages the public to join the police and media in fighting crime by offering anonymity and cash rewards to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest and filing of criminal charges against offenders, the capture of criminal fugitives or the recovery of stolen property. It is sponsored by the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the City of Burlington and Town of Burlington Police Departments. Call 262-342-1100 with tips leading to arrest or recovery of stolen property.
Kid Care
Officers can come to meetings or public events to fingerprint or photograph children. There is no charge for this service. Call 262-342-1100 for more information.
