Burlington Compost Site
There are some changes taking place at the
city's compost site. The good news over the past
few years is that the compost site has been well
received and well used. Unfortunately, some
individuals and contractors have abused the
site, making it a dumping ground for all kinds
of material, and thus ruining the compost.
Additionally, many folks from out of town were
using the site, which doesn't seem quite fair
considering that our city employees maintain the
site.
Starting this week, the site will be monitored
and only city residents and registered
contractors will be allowed to use it.
Contractor's using the City of Burlington
Compost site will be charged a dumping fee. An
attendant will be on site to verify necessary
information and collect data for invoice
processing. |
|
Materials accepted include:
grass
leaves
garden waste
wood chips
brush
The City will not accept brush or logs
greater than 5" in diameter.
No plastic bags, plastic containers, or
foreign debris of any kind. No stumps or
root balls will be allowed.
If you have any questions, please contact
the Department of Public Works at 763-2060.
