Come Meet with Mayor Bob Miller!
Mayor Miller held his
first Saturday office hours on May
3rd at City Hall (300 N. Pine
Street). He will continue to open
the doors to meet with him the first
Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. -
11 a.m. This is the public's
opportunity to have their voices
heard and ideas shared. You need
not be a resident of Burlington or
business owner, all are welcome. We
hope to see you there!

Welcome Peter
Hintz!
Peter was elected 2nd District Alderman by
the Common Council on May 6 to fill the
vacancy left by Bob Miller. He will take
over Bob's term which will last until April
2009. Peter has previously served as
Alderman from 1996 - 2006 in the same
district.

ChocolateFest
The 22nd Annual ChocolateFest will run from
Friday, May 23 to Monday, May 26. A complete
schedule and more information can be found at
www.chocolatefest.com or on the ChocolateFest
brochures which can be found at several local
area businesses.

ChocolateFest Fireworks
Fireworks will be held on Friday, May 23 at 9
p.m. beginning at dusk over Echo Lake
(Raindate
will be Saturday, May 24) .
The
Veteran's Memorial Day Parade
The annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on
Monday, May 26 beginning at 9 a.m. The parade
route will start at Kane Street and Wainwright
Avenue, run along Kane Street to Milwaukee
Avenue and end at the Veteran's Memorial

Burlington Farmer's Market to Feature
Vendors Galore, Entertainment and More

For 2008 the new and improved
Burlington Farmers Market will open
with new vendors, entertainment and
the support of the downtown
merchants from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on
Thursday, June 5 in beautiful
downtown Burlington. Located at
Wehmoff Square and along Washington
Street, residents from throughout
the region will be able to peruse
the best in locally grown produce,
cheeses and meats, as well as enjoy
the entertainment of Jeff Kramer
from CloverLick Banjos.
Shoppers are encouraged to get to
the market early on opening day to
be a part of the ribbon cutting
celebration and take advantage of
some great Grand Opening Specials.
While in town, visitors are
encouraged to visit one of
Burlington's quaint locally owned
shops, or dine at one of the many
downtown eating establishments.
The market will occur every Thursday
evening from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
throughout the summer and fall.
Those seeking fresh, locally grown
produce and unique gifts will be
sure to want to visit every week.

Pothole Patch-Up
City
staff members recently completed a
comprehensive review of the city
streets to determine a prioritized
list of areas that need substantial
repairs and improvements as a result
of the extreme weather this
winter. As a result, city
staff presented a plan for
addressing the
most significant areas impacted by
potholes throughout the city during
the May 6 Common Council meeting.
The repairs will occur this summer
as part of the annual Street Repair
and Rehabilitation project. The
major repair work will occur at the
following locations:
- Market Street (Randolph to
Edward area).
- McHenry Street (South of
Railroad Tracks).
- North Pine Street (Madison to
State area).
- South Pine Street (at Highland
Ave.)
- East Chandler Blvd. (Edward St.
to Henry St. area).
- S. Perkins Blvd. (Wainwright
Ave. to Market St. area).
