Clean Sweep Results
Saturday, April 19 marked the date of the most recent Clean Sweep event.  Several residents came in tow during the four hour event with cans of paint, chemicals and pesticides to clear their homes of  toxins that cannot go in the trash.  Results of this event were less than anticipated but overall an average of about seventy cars attended.

Several attendies brought latex paint. Unfortunately the City had to turn away latex paint as it is collected in other ways.  Latex paint can be disposed of  in the weekly trash pickup once hardened, either by drying it out, adding kitty litter or a hardening agent. Liquid forms of latex paint can also be taken to Reineman's True Value for a small fee.

Motor oil and antifreeze is once again accepted at the Public Works building, 824 Milwaukee Avenue from 7a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  The oil and antifreeze must be in a closed container and taken into the building.  For questions please call (262) 763-2060.

Burlington Farmer's Market

Watch for the Burlington Farmer's Market to begin on Thursday, June 5 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. along Washington Street. Due to the reconstruction project at the Veteran's Memorial Building, the market has been moved to a new location and time. Carol Reed and Greg Lemieux have spearheaded the move to the Downtown Historic District to revitalize this area. Several changes will be seen with the new market, including increased vendors, a wider variety of goods and weekly entertainment. Don't miss out on this incredible weekly event!

 T
hree new communication devices keeping the public informed

The City of Burlington has launched three new communication devices to help keep the public informed of current news and events.

Along with this e-newsletter, City Administrator Kevin Lahner has released his new weblog. The site, at burlingtonadministrator.wordpress.com
will feature Mr. Lahner's take on the day-to-day activities of managing the City of Burlington. Mr. Lahner intends to post information that is relevant and timely for Burlington's residents, and whomever else may be interested in what is happening in the city. Weblogs (or Blogs) are beginning to be utilized by City Managers/Administrators throughout the country as a means to keep the public informed, and provide valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of the city. Mr. Lahner's blog will not be open to public comments, except in rare circumstances where feedback is sought on a particular issue.

Finally, the City will be publishing a quarterly newsletter which will be delivered to homes throughout the city. The newsletter will replace the monthly newsletter - The Burlington Spotlight currently located in the Burlington Standard Press.

  What's All The Bark About?

The Burlington Dog Park has moved to it's new location near St. Mary's Park off of Calumet Street. This new area provides a fenced in area surrounded by the beauty of forest land and sounds of the nearby Fox River. As always, dog owners are expected to clean up after their pets. For your convenience, bags and garbage cans are provided to make this task as effortless as possible. Please keep in mind that all dogs must have collars and be licensed with the City, which can be purchased at City Hall, 300 N. Pine Street. For the safety of all patrons, aggressive dogs are not allowed. Please remember use of the park is at your own risk.
