On March 3, 2010, Peter Nimmer was sworn in as Burlington's Chief of Police by Municipal Judge Marvin Daniel.

Officer William Rice 

Officer William Rice joined the Burlington Police Department in September of 2009. Bill graduated from Gateway Technical College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and has already completed his police academy training. He is currently Field Training with this department, learning the many different responsibilities of a patrol officer here in Burlington.

The picture was taken on October 6, 2009 during his swearing-in ceremony.

 

Burlington Police Crime Release
July 6, 2009

The City of Burlington Police Department in conjunction with Burlington TIP LINE and CRIME STOPPERS of Racine County Inc. is seeking information on a burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of July 3, 2009.

Subjects entered Aurora Pharmacy 210 South Pine Street. They gained entry through the roof. This set off the alarm system.

Business owners are asked to secure doors to their businesses and leave cash drawers open. Do not leave cash in the business after hours. Check alarm and camera systems.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Burlington Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 262-342-1107.

Officer Andrew Brierly
July 3, 2008

Officer Andrew Brierly joined the Burlington Police Department in February of 2008 and completed his academy training in May.  He is currently Field Training with this department, learning the many different responsibilities of a patrol officer in Burlington.  Andy, a Burlington native, has served on two tours of duty in the Middle East where he was an Army Infantry Fireteam Leader. His great uncle, Phil Kendall, was a patrolman with the City several decades ago.

Police Sergeants Assigned to Aldermanic Districts
Neighborhood Watch Programs to Start
March 1, 2008

The City of Burlington is divided into four Aldermanic Districts. The police department will begin to take advantage of these districts to help improve communication with our residents and improve our services. A Police Sergeant will be assigned to each district and respond to problems and concerns. The goal of the new districts is to open lines of communication between Citizens, Aldermanic Representatives and the Police. These districts will allow sergeants to apply their resources to a specific area of the city and develop a relationship with the people who live there. We are implementing plans to develop community meetings, Neighborhood Watch programs, and initiatives to help people get to know the police on a first name basis.

Often the police will find, through communication, many problems are very minor and can easily be fixed making Burlington a better place to live.
