DPW FAQ's
Where do I report problems with traffic signals,
such as burned out bulbs, not working properly,
knockdowns or other damage?
Please report signal problems to the Police
Department at 262-763-2406 or the Department of
Public Works, 262-763-2060.
How do I report a street light out?
Obtain the address nearest to the light pole and
call the Department of Public Works at 262-763-2060.
You can also report a street light out directly to
Wisconsin Electric Power Company at 800-662-4797.
There's a big pothole in my street. Who do I call to
have it filled?
Please call the Department of Public Works at
262-763-3060.
Are pets allowed in City Parks?
No. All City parks are posted that pets are not
permitted.
I'm planning to have a landscaper dig a hole to
plant a tree in my front yard. Do I have to notify
anyone?
Yes. Because water, gas and electric utilities, as
well as the cable television and telephone lines,
are underground between the street and your house,
you must call the Diggers' Hotline (800-242-8511)
approximately 10 days in advance. The location of
the utility, telephone and cable lines will be
marked for you at no charge.
I am planning to remove the existing roof from my
house and replace it. A trash bin and other heavy
equipment will have to be in the street for a few
days. Do I need a permit for this?
Yes. City ordinance requires a Right-of-Way permit
any time the right of way is obstructed, even
partially, by equipment or other objects.
Application is made to the Department of Public
Works. You must submit the completed application
form, a drawing of the area where the equipment will
be, the permit fee, and any bond required. Please
call the Department of Public Works at 262-763-2060
with questions or for further information.
