Office Hours

Monday - Friday
7:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m.

Equipment Maintenance

The Department maintains a fleet of 20 vehicles and 16 pieces of major machinery and equipment. These are used to perform the varied tasks of the Streets/Parks Division.

Snow Plowing

Snow plowing begins when the snowfall exceeds three inches and is performed by an experienced DPW crew. State highways are plowed first, followed by major streets, secondary streets, parking lots and alleys. On streets where width permits, snow is plowed to the side of the roadway. In other areas the snow must be windrowed (pushed into a pile) and then transported by truck to other locations where space is available. When snow plowing becomes necessary, parking is not permitted on City streets between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for 48 hours or until plowing has been completed.

Streets/Signs/Traffic Signals

The Department maintains the street signs and traffic signals throughout the City. Signs are replaced as needed according to a maintenance schedule. Upkeep of over 40 miles of streets and alleys requires constant vigilance and Department employees take pride in the City’s clean and well-maintained roadways. The Department also performs parking lot maintenance, striping (street lines), curb markings, storm sewer maintenance and other projects.
