City Administrator Kevin Lahner joined Burlington in January of 2008. He comes to the Chocolate City after more than seven years of experience in the cities of Flower Mound and Keller, Texas. A Wisconsin native, Mr. Lahner was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Keller (population 37,000), since 2005. Previously, he served as the Assistant to the Town Manager of Flower Mound (population 55,000) from 2003 to 2005. Kevin also served as the Community Affairs Specialist in Flower Mound from 2000 to 2003. Kevin is active in the International City/County Management Association and the Wisconsin City/County Management Association. Prior to arriving in Burlington, Mr. Lahner was an active member of the Texas City/County Management Association, Urban Management Assistants of North Texas, and the Greater Keller Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Lahner is a Rotarian, and is a member of the Burlington Rotary Club. Kevin has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from UW-Stevens Point and a Master Degree in Public Administration from the University of North Texas. He, his wife Jessica, and twin boys Chase and Noah enjoy outdoor activities including camping, fishing, canoeing and biking. Kevin is a long distance runner and has completed four marathons. Duties The City Administrator is the chief administrative officer of the city and is appointed by the Common Council to oversee the day-to-day operations of the city. The City Administrator provides leadership for the organization; executes the City Councils policies, ordinances, resolutions and service objectives; works with the Council, city staff and citizens to establish and implement long-range goals and objectives; keeps the council informed as to the condition of the City's service delivery system and physical infrastructure; advises Council of the City's current financial condition and future financial needs in order to maintain high quality of services and facilities; prepares reports for the Council concerning the affairs of the City; and coordinates preparation of the agenda for Council meetings.
