BURLINGTON – The City of Burlington is launching three new communication devices this week to help keep the public informed of current news and events. The city released its first electronic newsletter – Chocolate City eChat on Tuesday. The newsletter is designed to provide up-to-date information on news that impacts city residents. It also includes a link to the most current meeting agendas. Residents can subscribe to the newsletter by going to the city’s homepage at www.burlington-wi.gov. 

Another addition to the information arsenal is City Administrator Kevin Lahner’s new weblog. The site, at http://burlingtonadministrator.wordpress.com will feature Mr. Lahner’s take on the day-to-day activities of managing the City of Burlington. Mr. Lahner intends to post information that is relevant and timely for Burlington’s residents, and whomever else may be interested in what is happening in the city. Weblogs (or Blogs) are beginning to be utilized by City Managers/Administrators throughout the country as a means to keep the public informed and provide valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of the city. Mr. Lahner’s blog will not be open to public comments, except in rare circumstances where feedback is sought on a particular issue.

Finally, the city will be publishing a quarterly newsletter which will be delivered to homes throughout the city. The newsletter will replace the monthly newsletter – The Burlington Spotlight currently located in the Burlington Standard Press.
