POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION

MINUTES
Burlington Fire Station
165 West Washington Street
May 7, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Tom Pringle.

Roll Call
Commissioners present were Ron Patla, John Hotvedt, Pat Spiegelhoff and Barbara Kopack Hill. Also present were Police Chief Scot Eisenhauer and Fire Chief Richard Lodle.

Public Comments
There no public comments.

Minutes
On a motion by Commission Spiegelhoff, seconded by Commissioner Patla, the Commission unanimously approved the minutes of March 5, 2008.

Department Reports
Chief Lodle presented updates of the Fire Department to the Commission which included the acceptance of the retirement of Perry Hintz, Kevin Spencer being elected to probation as Fire Fighter, five probationary members finished FF1 Certification and two members finished FF2 Certification.

Closed Session
Commissioner Spiegelhoff motioned and Commissioner Patla seconded to move into Closed Session per authority of ss. 19.85(1) Wis. Stats. to discuss a Police Union complaint at 6:40 p.m.

Commissioner Holvedt motioned and Commissioner Patla seconded to move out of Closed Session. Motion carried unanimously.

Reports and Communications
Police Chief Eisenhauer presented updates of the Police Department to the Commission which included the vacancy left be David Waltz to be replaced, Eric Mitchel finished motorcycle school this week, Neighborhood Watch is operating in good standing following some incidents and the department is preparing for ChocolateFest weekend with extra patrols.

Other Business
The Police and Fire Commission rules and regulations with proposed changes were distributed for review. The proposals and changes will be finalized at the June meeting.

Adjournment
At 7:29 p.m. President Pringle motioned to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Kopack Hill. The motion carried unanimously.
