The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Tom Pringle. Commissioners present were Norris (Jack) Berry, and Ron Patla.

Excused: Commissioners John Hotvedt, and Patricia Spiegelhoff.

Also present were Police Chief Scot Eisenhauer and Fire Chief Dick Lodle.

Public comments: None

On a motion by Commissioner Patla, seconded by Commissioner Berry the Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the January 10, 2008, meeting.

The commission interviewed Police Officer Amy Tylo who recently completed her probationary period. Motion made by Commissioner Patla, seconded by Commissioner Berry to approve the appointment of Officer Tylo to permanent status. Motion carried unanimously.

Police Chief Eisenhauer reported his selection of Andrew Brierly from the police eligibility list for hiring as a probationary police officer. Motion made by Commissioner Patla, seconded by Commissioner Berry to approve the hiring of Andrew Brierly as a police officer. Motion carried unanimously.

As per the Police Chief’s contract, the Police and Fire Commission received Chief Eisenhauer’s list of goals for 2008.

Police Chief Eisenhauer informed the commission that he had reviewed the results of the commission’s interview ranking of the applicants for Lieutenant which occurred at the September 5, 2007 meeting. He discovered an error in the numerical score calculations. The commission reviewed the original score sheets and agreed that an error had been made in the scoring calculations. Motion made by Commissioner Patla, seconded by Commissioner Berry to revise the Police and Fire Commission interview rankings for the Lieutenant’s interviews as scored at the September 5, 2007 meeting to correct a numerical error. The revised ranking is:

3. Thurin
4. Krupp
5. Kelter

6. Madsen Tie

6. Wiskes Tie

Motion carried unanimously.

At 7:37 p.m. a motion was made by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Patla to move into Closed Session per authority of Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c), Considering employment, promotion compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.

• To consider application of candidate for the Fire Department

Motion carried unanimously.

At 7:44 p.m. a motion was made by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Patla to move out of Closed Session. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion made by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Patla to place Kevin Spencer on the Fire Department’s eligibility list. Motion carried unanimously.

Chief Lodle provided commissioners with copies of the Fire Department’s 2007 Annual Report.

At 7:55 p.m. President Pringle made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Patla. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned.
