The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. by Tom Pringle. Commissioners present were Tom Pringle, Jack Berry, Ron Patla, John Hotvedt. Commissioner Spiegelhoff excused.

1. Public comments: None

2. Minutes of the November 15, 2007 meeting of the Commission were moved for approval by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Patla. Motion carries.

3. Motion to move into closed session by Commissioner Hotvedt at 6:04 p.m., seconded by Commissioner Berry, to discuss City of Burlington Fire Department personnel matters. Motion carries.

4. Motion by Commissioner Patla to move out of closed session, seconded by Commissioner Berry. Motion carries unanimously.

5. Motion by Commissioner Patla to interview Kevin Spencer on February 6, 2008 at 6:30 p.m., seconded by Commissioner Hotvedt. Motion carries unanimously.

6. Thereafter, Chief Lodle presented to the Commission the City of Burlington Firefighters list of officers for 2008. The same was received and filed.

7. Motion by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Patla, to enter closed session pursuant to Section 19.85 (1), Wis. Stats. to interview candidates for City of Burlington police officer eligibility list.

Discussion: Prior to interview of the five candidates, Commissioner Hotvedt notes a conflict of interest with respect to candidate Matthew Prohaska. Commissioner Hotvedt recuses himself from discussion and will remove himself from the room during the interview of and deliberations involving this candidate. Motion carries unanimously.

8. Subsequent to closed session, motion by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Hotvedt, to come out of closed session at 9:39 p.m. Motion carries unanimously.

9. Commissioners' interview results presented to Chief Eisenhower for scoring and consideration for the City's hiring eligibility list.

10. Motion to adjourn by Commissioner Pringle, seconded by Commissioner Patla. Motion carries unanimously.
