POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION

MINUTES FROM MAY 4, 2005 MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Thomas Pringle. Commissioners present were Patricia Spiegelhoff, Norris (Jack) Berry and James Stobber. Excused was Commissioner David Kaiser. Also present were Police Chief David Walsh and Fire Chief Richard Lodle.

Motion to approve the minutes of the April 6, 2005 meeting by Commissioner Spiegelhoff, seconded by Commissioner Berry. Motion carried unanimously.

Fire Chief Lodle's Report: Chief Lodle had no formal report but reported on the status of the new ladder truck when asked.

Police Chief Walsh's Report: Motion to go into closed session pursuant to Wisconsin State Statue 19.85(1)(c) to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of police officers at 6:34 pm. Motion made by Commissioner Stobber, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff. Motion carried unanimously. Motion to return to open session at 6:49 p.m. by Commissioner Spiegelhoff , seconded by Commissioner Stobber. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Spiegelhoff accept Officer Joe Patla as probationary officer. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Stobber, seconded by Commissioner Berry to make a conditional offer of probationary employment as patrol officer to Danielle Barenek. Motion carried unanimously. Motion to remove the name of Heather Ostowski from the eligibility list by Commissioner Spiegelhoff, seconded by Commissioner Berry. Motion carried unanimously.

Chief Walsh discussed the Police Management Study with the commission.

Motion by Commissioner Pringle, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff to adjourn at 7:04 p.m. The next meeting will be June 1, 2005 at 6:00 p.m.
