POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION

MINUTES FROM JULY 7, 2004 MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Thomas Pringle. Commissioners present were Patricia Spiegelhoff, Norris (Jack) Berry, and James Stobber. Also present was Police Chief David Walsh. Excused were Commissioner David Kaiser and Fire Chief Richard Lodle.

Motion to approve the minutes of the June 2,2004 meeting by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff. Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Commissioner Stobber to move to closed session pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 19.85(1)(c) at 6:32 p.m. to consider applications for firefighter and discuss request for permanent status from probationary to permanent status a firefighter. Seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff. Motion carried unanimously. Motion to move out of closed session by Commissioner Stobber, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff at 6:39 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Commissioner Spiegelhoff, seconded by Commissioner Stobber to interview candidates at next meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Stobber to move to permanent membership status to Fire Fighter Adam Mueller. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion to move to closed session pursuant to Wisconsin State Statue 19.85(1)(c) to discuss employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of police offices, by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Stobber at 6:45 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. Motion to return to open session at 6:49 p.m. by Commissioner Stobber, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff. Motion carried unanimously. Chief Walsh gave a brief explanation of his follow up report on the survey begun by retired Police Chief Ron Patla. Chief said he would continue to give new updates at 6 month intervals.

Motion by Commissioner Berry, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff to adjourn at 7:13 p.m. Motion carried unanimously
