The meeting was called to order at 7:00 a.m. by President Thomas Pringle. Commissioners present were Patricia Spiegelhoff , James Stobber, David Kaiser, Norris (Jack) Berry and Thomas Pringle.

Motion to approve the minutes as printed of the March 15, 2003 meeting by Commissioner Kaiser, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion at 7:01 a.m. by Commissioner Stobber, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff, pursuant to ss. 19.85(1)(c), Stats., to move into closed session for the purpose of reviewing the final background check from Criminal Justice Associates, Inc. of the final Police Chief candidate. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion out of closed session at 7:03 a.m. by Commissioner Stobber, seconded by Commissioner Kaiser. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Commissioner Stobber, seconded by Commissioner Spiegelhoff, to appoint as the new City of Burlington Police Chief David J. Walsh. Roll call vote: Stobber, Kaiser, Pringle, Berry and Spiegelhoff all voted yes. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion to adjourn at 7:05 a.m. by President Pringle, seconded by Commissioner Stobber.
Motion carried unanimously.
