PARK BOARD
165 West Washington Street
Burlington, Wisconsin 53105
July 21, 2005 at 6:30 p.m.
Meeting called to order at 6:35PM. Present: Bill
Milatz, Charles Neff, Peter Hintz, Darrel Eisenhardt,
Teresa Trawitzke, Kevin Bird, Larry Gobel. Absent: Ken

Public Comment:
- Judy Kerkhoff of the Jaycees reported on the
Memorial Day weekend boat races. Things went well,
some small parking problems, may hire a deputy in
the future. Jaycees hope to improve communications
and coordination of all events happening on the
Memorial Day weekend. Parking of campers on Congress
St. is a good alternative for the Jaycees.
- Corey Militzer, tennis enthusiast, provided
information so that Larry Goebel can apply for a
USTA grant for tennis court improvements. Corey is
looking into other grants and sources of
sponsorship. May form a club that would be a 501C3
organization. Larry Goebel will contact contractors
to look at our courts, and get their input; some
come recommended by the USTA.
- Paul Feldhake of Miller & Assoc. made a
presentation on the McCanna Park play equipment. He
presented a system of smaller, less expensive
equipment compared to Echo Park -- the 3000 Series.
Three alternatives were shown costing approximately
$13,650 each, delivered and installed, plus the
opportunity to add one or two Rock-N-Ride features.
- Dick Imrie of Baseball 2000 reported on the
events of June and July including the dedication of
the new concession stand building. He also reported
that the bathrooms are remodeled on the exterior and
in use. Baseball 2000 is working to get a water
hook-up to the concession stand. Dick recognized and
thanked Ryan Hoffman and Tom Krause for the fine
jobb they have done of maintaining Beaumont Field.
Minutes for the June meeting we approved.
Bills for the month of June were approved.
Aldermanic Report.
- Brief discussion about asking the county to get
a quote for providing water to the fields at
Bushnell Park.
Supervisors Report:
- Working on replacing some boards at the
skateboard park. Hope to use youths to do public
service work.
- Reviewed the status of Park Board funds (Impact
fees and Wehmhoff Fund).
Old Business:
- McCanna Park restroom building is coming along
well, hope to hit target of opening by Labor Day.
- Garden Club statue is installed and will be
dedicated in August. --Korean War Memorial will be
installed soon.
Other Discussions:
- Firemen's Dance went well.
- Brief discussion of spending plans for 2006, 7,
& 8. To be continued at next months meeting.
- Discussion of enforcement of parking
restrictions and of vehicle access to Echo Park
during special events. The need for more patrols
and/or fencing of certain areas was discussed.
Adjournment at 8:30PM.
