CITY OF BURLINGTON – PARK BOARD

Meeting called to order at 6:35 pm. Present: Bill Milatz, Ken Kline, Charles Neff, Larry Gobel, Teresa Trawitzke, Peter Hintz, Darrel Eisenhardt. Absent: Kevin Bird.

A welcome was extended to new member Teresa Trawitzke.

Minutes of the April meeting were approved with minor changes. Bills for the past month were reviewed and approved.

Guests:

  • Chuck Dexter, representing the Log-Cabin Toy Run, described the need to use the Hintz complex parking lot for this year's event to be held Sept. 11, 2005. Permission was given by consensus.
  • Bob Gueldenzorpf of the Racine Bells described the softball tournament they are hosting the weekend of June 11 and 12. They have reserved Bushnell Park for the 18U tournament - 8 teams. Fees are $75.00 per diamond, per day. Larry to furnish extension cords and extra garbage cans. We informed Bob of the possibility of parking congestion due to the Sunday soccer players.
  • Baseball 2000, no representative at the meeting. Larry needs a copy of the American Legion schedule.

Election of Officers:

The following individuals were elected unanimously:

  • Bill Milatz, President
  • Darrel Eisenhardt, Vice President
  • Chuck Neff, Secretary

Aldermanic Report:

  • We a re trying to encourage the county to run water lines to the Bushnell soccer field. Glen Lampark needs some cost estimates.

Supervisor's Report:

  • Chocolate Fest and Echo Park Memorial Day preparations going well.
  • Working on filling all summer help positions and park attendants (3 returning from last year.
  • Skateboard park will be shut down during Chocolate Fest.
  • Larry has the Garden Club statue to be installed in June.
  • Echo pavilion roof repair quotes are $3-9000, Larry is still working with potential suppliers.
  • New landscaping at Congress St. field is nearly complete. Landscape repair and a new fence are still needed.
  • McCanna Park restroom construction has started, foundation to be poured shortly.

Old Business:

  • Beaumont Field concession stand is now insured under the city's coverage.

New Business:

  • Received request from church softball league to use Bushnell diamonds June-August for 2 games on Friday nights. Diamond fee is $25.00 per field.
