RE: PARK COMMISSION MEETING

Bill Milatz called the regular meeting of the Burlington Park Board to order on April 21, 2005 at 6:35 p.m., at the City of Burlington Fire Department on West Washington Street.

Present Commissioners: Bill Milatz, Darrell Eisenhardt, Cathy Hartzell, Theresa Schuerman, Ken Kline, Charles Neff, Park Supervisor Larry Gobel and Aldermanic Representative Peter Hintz.

Guests: Mary from Burlington Garden Club; Doug Hozeska, Burlington Youth Basketball; Bill Schemer, 2005 Chocolate City Committee; Ron Kolman, Fall Cookie Festival Committee (Antique Car Show). Judy Kerkhoff, Burlington Jaycees.


The minutes of the March regular meeting were reviewed, edited and accepted. Moved (Eisenhardt); seconded (Kline)

Disbursements: Monthly disbursements were reviewed and accepted. Moved (Eisenhardt); seconded (Hintz)

COMMUNICATION AND PUBLIC COMMENT:

Mary from Burlington Arts Council presented the Park Board the 2005 Art in the Garden Festival information.

Doug Hozeska from Burlington Youth Basketball presented the Park Board his idea for updating the basketball court(s) at Weimhoff Yucker Park. Discussions on the future for a potential court(s) and alternate locations was held.

Bill Schemer represented 2005 Chocolate City Committee, and reviewed the plans for Memorial Day weekend festival.

Judy Kerkhoff from the Burlington Jaycees gave the Park Board the details for the Memorial Day weekend Boat :Races.

Ron Kolman representing the Fall Cookie Festival Committee, discussed an Antique Car Show which is to be held in conjunction with the Festival. The car show is proposed to take place at Riverside Park.

ALDERMANIC REPORT (Presented by Peter Hintz):

Reviewed the Bushnell Schedule.

SUPERVISOR REPORT (Larry Gobel):

  • Chocolate Festival preparations are underway.
  • 2005 Summer/Temporary help scheduled also hiring for a Seasonal full-time.
  • Baseball/Softball schedules turned in.
  • Maryland Avenue skateboard facility closed due to spray paint, now re-opened.

OLD BUSINESS

McCanna Park rest room construction is staked out.

  • Echo Park Pavillion repairs is on hold.
  • Korean War Vets statue placement is progressing, and to arrive soon.
  • Congress Street project on track for retaining wall, pavings and plantings.

NEW BUSINESS

No update on damaged irrigation at Community State Bank, possible reimbursement

Wagner Park Lights waiting until the bathroom shell is up.

No confirmation from Milwaukee Metro Softball League, discuss fees.

Quarterly Financial report-Park Funds discussions.

Thank yous given to Theresa Schuerman and Cathy Hartzell for serving as commissioners.

Motion to Accept Donation: A motion was made to accept the kind donation from Rollie Bauman, Baseball ?000 and Little League for the William Branen field sign. Eisenhardt; seconded by Hintz.

Motion to Adjourn: Eisenhardt; seconded by Kline. Meeting Adjourned: 8:33 p.m.
