City of Burlington Downtown Executive Team

At the meeting this Friday morning, Mayor Claude Lois called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. starting with a roll call: Mayor Lois, Mary Brensinger, Lynn Guenke, John Ekes, Mike Hohner, Kevin McKillip, John Smith, Dennis Spankowski, Tom Stelling, Bill Stone and Jenny Trick. Excused: David Torgler.

Dennis Spankowski motioned and John Ekes seconded to approve the minutes of the March 22, 2002 DET meeting.

Bill Stone provided a copy of the marketing materials that were developed and distributed to potential vendors. Additionally, the rules and regulations were updated and a final copy was provided to the DET members. Related, Mr. Stone offered an update regarding the vendor contacts that he has made and the resulting interest and/or commitments that were realized.

One of the outstanding matters that was discussed at a past DET meeting was that of the hiring of a Market Manager. Inasmuch, Mr. Stone distributed a brief job description relating to the Farmers’ Market Manager, as well as indicated that he had identified an individual, Pam Hess, that was interested in the position. After a brief discussion of the details, consensus was achieved relative to the discussed issues relative to the farmers’ market, manager, signage, hours, etc., but the DET members asked that a review of the issues take place within the second quarter (6/13-7/24).

DET members were asked to review their Implementation Schedule in advance of the April DET meeting to discuss potential future projects. The following four main topics were highlighted:

An update was provided by Mayor Lois, regarding the March 21, 2002 Economic Development Committee meeting and the resulting action relating to "Big Box" development. The matter will be discussed/considered at the 3/26/02 COW/Council meeting.

Dennis Spankowski motioned and John Ekes seconded to adjourn. All were in favor and the motion carried.
