On this Tuesday evening, Mayor Lois called the Special Common Council meeting to order at 5:20 p.m. starting with roll call. Roll Call: Robert Prailes, Peter Girolamo, Robert Miller, Kent Strong, Thomas Vos and Katie Simenson. Alderman Steve Rauch and John Thate were excused. Also present were: Budget Officer / Treasurer Bridget Lois and Interim City Administrator Mark Morien (via phone).

Citizen Comments – None.

Discussion ensued regarding the 2008 budgeted tax levy and amending that levy. Interim Administrator Morien explained that when the Council considered and later adopted the $4,979,711, he referred to the estimated mil rate of $7.12. While this is an accurate statement, when the mil rate is converted from an Equalized rate to the Assessed mil rate for the County, the number is different. In this case, the Assessed mil rate is $7.52.

After the discussion, the following motion was made:

Alderman Girolamo moved and Alderman Strong seconded to approve Motion 07-587 as presented. Roll Call: Ayes: Strong and Girolamo. Nays: Prailes, Miller, Vos, and Simenson. The motion was denied.

The following motion was then made:

Alderman Miller moved and Alderman Vos seconded to approve Motion 07-588 as presented. Roll Call: Ayes: Miller, Vos, and Prailes. Nays: Girolamo, Strong, and Simenson. Mayor Lois cast a tie breaking vote of aye. The motion carried.

Adjourn – Alderman Strong moved and Alderman Girolamo seconded to adjourn. All were in favor and the motion carried.
