COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

JULY 5, 2001

6:30 p.m.

The meeting of the Community Development Authority was called to order by Chairman Jack Eckola at 6:30 p.m. with the following in attendance: Jack Eckola, Ken Jaeger, Mayor Claude Lois, Bob Miller, Bill Scherrer, Jim Spiegelhoff, David Torgler, Jenny Trick, Jim Wanasek and Bev Gill.

Lynn Greunke was excused.

MINUTES

On a motion by Jaeger and a second by Spiegelhoff the minutes of June 7, 2001 were approved. All were in favor and motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS

Jenny Trick had contacted all the owners of the buildings that will be affected by the proposed removal of overhead wires in the 500 block of North Pine Street. The owners have concurred that a $1,500.00 contribution would be satisfactory. The city engineer and attorney are going to proceed with this project.

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Wanasek was part of a discussion regarding the entrance sign to the Riverfront area. It was his opinion that the proposed service club logo signs would be prone to vandalism due to the fact that the signs would not be flush with the wall and could easily be pried off. Mayor Lois thought it might be more appropriate to have the service groups have their signage on the edges of the city limits. The Riverfront Sign would then be left for that designation only. Jaeger made a motion to eliminate the service logos from the Riverfront Sign. Scherrer seconded the motion; all were in favor and motion carried.

The second item of new business was a request from Steve Solofra whose property is at 280 South Pine Street for two gated fences perpendicular to the overpass structure to enclose the back area.

The City of Burlington would need a 10-foot easement for any maintenance in that area. Mayor Lois made a motion to extend and allow the gated fencing with an easement agreement. Jaeger seconded the motion; all were in favor and motion carried.

The third item of new business was the request to rezone 372 and 388 South Pine Street. The majority of properties in the area are zoned B1 except these two parcels which are zoned M1.To be consistent with the neighborhood these parcels needed to be rezoned. Mayor Lois made a motion to rezone 372 and 388 South Pine Street from M1 to B1. Scherrer seconded the motion; all were in favor and motion carried.

The fourth item of new business was a handout of the Riverfront Redevelopment Activity Report that had been compiled by Jenny Trick.

The August meeting of the CDA will lack a quorum and will not be held.

At 7:17 p.m. Scherrer made a motion to adjourn. Miller seconded the motion; all were in favor and motion carried.

Respectfully submitted

Beverly R. Gill
