Chairman Januszewski called the meeting to order at
6:00 p.m.
Present were: Mitch Januszewski, Jerry Delay, Harry
Putt, Gary Meisner, Bob Kawalec, John Ekes and Arlene
Runkel
Guest: Matt Saban, Eric Januszewski and Matt Dean
Ekes moved and Meisner seconded, that the minutes of
the April 22, 2004 Airport Committee meeting be approved
as presented. Motion Carried.
The airport committee reviewed a draft (05/17/04) of
a new airport building lease.
Ekes moved, Delay seconded, that the committee
recommend a monthly rent of $1065 be established for the
new lease. Roll call vote: Putz, yes; Ekes, yes; Delay,
yes; Januszewski, yes; Kawalec, yes; Runkel, yes;
Meisner, abstain. Motion Carried.
Delay moved, Ekes seconded, that the airport
committee forward the revised lease to the city council
for approval. Roll call vote: Runkel, yes; Ekes, yes;
Januszewski, yes; Putt, yes, Delay, yes; Kawalec, yes;
Meisner, abstain.
Ekes and Kawalec will meet with city officials to
properly submit airport lease availability to the public
and/or interested parties.
The airport committee will hold a special meeting on
Saturday, June 05, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. at Airway Flight
Service.
The airport committee reviewed bids and
specifications for a self-serve fuel system at
Burlington Airport.
Ekes moved, Kawalec seconded, to recommend acceptance
by the city council of a bid from Metco not to exceed
$19,400 for a self-serve system plus an additional
$7,000 for a hose reel, static line, hoses and nozzles.
Roll call vote: Kawalec, yes; Meisner, yes; Januszewski,
yes; Delay, yes; Putz, yes; Ekes, yes and Runkel, yes.
Motion carried.
Meisner reported that We-Energies will submit a bid
for burial of power lines at the airport. He also
reported that additional markings and stripping will be
undertaken in the near future. Meisner suggested that
the committee review potential upgrades at the airport
to enhance both safety and take advantage of technical
advances available to us. Potential dollars from
governmental agencies may be able to help with any cost.
Bill Hughes will work on providing lighting in the
airport parking area.
Ekes suggested that the committee review the idea of
terrorist insurance.
There being no further business, on a motion by Ekes
and a second by Putz, the committee meeting was
adjourned on a roll call vote at 7:05 p.m. Roll Call
Vote: Runkel, yes; Putz, yes; Kawalec, yes; Januszewski,
yes; Meisner, yes; Ekes, yes and Delay, yes. Motion
Carried
